Blazing Summer Of Sports

Sport has certainly burst back into full-time action, albeit with reduced numbers of fans able to watch this summer’s sporting spectacles in person.

To the delight of excited fans the Tokyo Olympics, Euro 2020, Wimbledon, Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta, Cowes Week and ODI Cricket are all happening once again. But, it can be hard to balance sartorial style with comfort and practicality, especially during the summer.

So what are your options?

Well, that depends somewhat on whether your chosen sporting event has a dress code, or not? For instance Wimbledon has both strict rules for the players and guests of the Royal Box, as well as guidelines for the public ticket holders.

These include all-white kit for players, with the public barred from wearing ripped jeans, dirty trainers, flip-flops and sports shorts, although interestingly, tailored shorts would be more than acceptable at Wimbledon. Maybe that’s where our cutting team got the idea for the new bespoke shorts they've been busy making for customers recently.

So how can you eliminate any risk of being denied access at the entrance gate? Well, to start with we’d suggest a smart navy blue blazer, either double-breasted or single-breasted. This can be worn with or without a tie, depending on the ever-important weather and specific occasion you’re attending.

If a more flamboyant personal style is what you’re after, why not have a bespoke cricket blazer made?

Bold stripes paired with a subtle and plain polo shirt, or even a plain white shirt would impress not only at the cricket, but also at the racing and yachting’s great social occasions, Henley Royal Regatta and Cowes Week.

As the official stockist of Club ties for Marylebone Cricket Club, more commonly known as the ‘MCC’, our experienced team knows just how to help you dress to impress, no matter which team you support, and which event you attend.
