We’ve had, and continue to have the pleasure of dressing Hollywood stars. Leading actors with timeless style and supreme elegance, like Rudolph Valentino.

‘Valentino’ as he was known, was an Italian-born American actor and star of silent films, becoming a sex symbol of the 1920s, before his untimely death in 1926, aged just 31.

This safari suit made by us for Valentino in 1923 will be auctioned by Bonhams in New York City on November 30th, as part of their movie memorabilia sale.

Valentino’s safari coat was cut by our current chairman’s father, ‘Tim Skinner’ in the Dege & Skinner workshop that was located on Conduit Street in central London at that time. The riding breeches would have been made by the celebrated A.J. Hosford.

Keeping up with tradition, current Brand Ambassador Toby Storie-Pugh is himself familiar with safari suits. albeit made from more technical fabrics.

Details of Toby’s attempt to ‘Walk the Congo’ will be posted here and published in our once a month email. To sign-up to receive news and special offers, simply enter your email address at the top of this page.
