Wool Week – 7th to 20th October 2019

As Patron for The Campaign for Wool, HRH Prince Charles’ support for the sheep farmers of the British Isles is clearly evident for all to see. As a family-owned bespoke tailor for over 150 years, at Dege & Skinner we rely on being able to source luxurious, world-class woollen cloth from historic mills around the world like Vitale Barberis Canonico in Italy, Fox Brothers in England and Johnstons of Elgin in Scotland.

Previous years of the highly successful Campaign for Wool have seen London’s renowned ‘Savile Row’ closed to traffic to allow sheep to graze and this year will continue its consumer education program to highlight wool as a planet friendly fibre. Every year sheep produce a new fleece, making wool a natural, renewable fibre source with inherent natural biodegradable properties in the land and ocean to benefit the planet, which is choking from waste plastic, man-made and micro-fibres.

At the end of their life, your natural wool products will biodegrade and return to the soil. Fibres classed as non-biodegradable such as polyester, viscose and nylon will take between 20 and 200 years to degrade depending on conditions. We can Make A Difference, Choose Wool.
