Trunk Show customers and visitors to the Savile Row shop will no doubt have noticed that we have a new Head Shirt Cutter at Dege & Skinner, replacing the renowned Mr Robert Whittaker.

Joining us as an apprentice in July 2011, Head Shirt Cutter Tom Bradbury has been trained to the highest standard by industry legend Robert Whittaker, who recently retired after 25 years of shirt-cutting here at Dege & Skinner. Here are Tom’s recommendations for bespoke shirt cloths this season.

Robert was known in the trade as ‘Bobby-The-Shirt’, Robert’s esteemed career was celebrated at a champagne reception hosted by William Skinner, when he was presented with a bottle of his, and Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite cognac, Remy Louis X111. The very same cognac was served to HRH Queen Elizabeth II at the Versailles Palace during her 1957 visit.

Robert started the bespoke shirt-cutting department at Dege & Skinner and it’s success has led to it being the only permanent bespoke shirt-cutting service still located on Savile Row itself.

After many years cutting shirts for us in the shop at 10 Savile Row in London, Robert Whittaker has now retired and handed the shirt-cutting shears to his prodigy, Tom Bradbury.
