First conceived by the current Managing Director’s grandfather in the 1930’s, the Phitwell® is designed to make shooting more comfortable. And to this day it remains a constant wardrobe staple for enthusiasts of outdoor country sports and shooting.

So what is it that makes the Phitwell® Shooting Coat so wonderfully fit for purpose as a design?

Put simply, it’s the coat’s unique sprung lining construction. It’s this that attracts continued comment amongst some of the leading and most influential media for men:

Two pleats have been built into the back of the coat and the inside of the pleat is then connected to the lining inside. The lining across the back is divided down the middle and is then re-connected by lacing elasticated thread. This allows the back of the coat to expand and the pleats to open, giving room for movement. When the arms are relaxed, the elasticated thread pulls the pleats back into place, so there is no untidiness.

The result produces a jacket that is not only practical, but also comfortable and elegant at all times.

Suitable for wearing while enjoying outdoor country pursuits, the ‘sprung’ lacing ensures comfort and unrestricted movement, without losing the tailored shape of the coat.
