Our third post about our continued success in the bi-annual Golden Shears Awards, often dubbed ‘the Oscars of Tailoring’, features Emma Martin.
Coat Maker Extraordinaire

Unmatched Pattern Matching
Highly skilled Coat Maker Emma Martin, a former winner of BBC’s Young Tailor of the Year, was a finalist of the Golden Shears in 2001.
Trained under legendary coat maker Stefano Tormambe and now responsible for training a number of apprentices herself, Emma's stunning womenswear outfit was strongly praised by the technical judges, in particular for its impressive and imaginative pattern matching across Emma's choice of a two-tone William Morris cloth.

Emma’s carefully honed bespoke tailoring skills meant that she could use both the front and also the reverse side of the finely detailed William Morris cloth, perfectly aligning the distinctive, intricate and repeated motif across the entire design.
Military Influence
This skill was especially evident on the lapels, shoulders and back seams of the mess style jacket.
Emma Martin's Golden Shears Final catwalk outfit was topped off with a sharp looking tent hat in a nod to the history and heritage of Dege & Skinner.
Established in 1865 and still owned by the original Skinner family, bespoke tailor and shirt-maker Dege & Skinner is located at 10 Savile Row in London, selling bespoke tailoring and shirts, ready to wear clothing, military uniforms, military accoutrements and accessories.

To cope with demand for our bespoke tailoring and bespoke shirt-making services, we also host various domestic and overseas trunk shows throughout the year, with details published on the company website and in the once a month newsletter.
