FAQs
The world of bespoke tailoring is familiar to some and a new experience for others. So here we try to answer the usual questions we're asked about the bespoke making process. If you have other specific questions or queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch and one of the team can assist you.
Bespoke Tailoring
This section specifically covers bespoke tailoring and bespoke shirts.
To make a bespoke garment, how long does it normally take?
From your first appointment and the placement of an order, it takes approximately 12 weeks to deliver your bespoke clothing. That said, we’ll try our best to deliver the bespoke order quicker, if required for a special occasion, such as a wedding.
Who will I see?
At Dege & Skinner, one cutter is solely responsible for overseeing the entire bespoke making process for an individual customer. From your first appointment to the delivery of the finished garments.
Details of our team of bespoke cutters can be seen here: https://dege-skinner.co.uk/about/our-team/
Where will my appointment be?
You have options! Either at Number 10 Savile Row in London, or at a location convenient to you in the UK. Alternatively, during one of our overseas trunk shows.
Details of all our trunk shows are published online and also in our customer emails.
If you would like to suggest a new location for us to host a trunk show, please let us know and we’ll endeavour to facilitate your request.
How many fittings will I have?
You’ll have at least two fittings: a ‘baste’ fitting and a forward fitting.
What happens if I happen to gain or lose weight?
Every bespoke suit, waistcoat or pair of trousers we make has inlays to allow it to be let out up to 4”. The alterations are noted and each pattern is painstakingly altered in preparation for the next order.

The 'Dege & Skinner Gilet', how long does it normally take to make one of those?
These are customisable so they’ll be made to order. Delivery will normally be 4 weeks from the time of ordering.
What do we mean by 'customisable' for the 'Dege & Skinner Gilet'?
These will be made on a unique stock special basis i.e. customisable. This means you’ll be able to personally select the cloth AND choose your desired pocket detailing on the gilet.
We hold three stock models in the sizes S, M and L and each of these models will have different pockets on them to help your final decision. Other small size adjustments can also be made from the stock pattern, such as waist size.
