In 2007, we celebrated a splendid win in the bi-annual Golden Shears competition, which celebrates the next generation of tailors in the UK.
Golden Shears Winner

Victory
Awarded her trophy by judge Ozwald Boateng, at the time of her victory Roxanne Jones was an apprentice. Eighteen years and three children later, she continues to work here at Dege & Skinner.
``Before I started my apprenticeship, I studied Handcraft Tailoring at London College of Fashion and the Golden Shears competition was spoken of often and highly regarded. When I started at Dege there was an expectation that I would enter from them so was fully supported with my ideas.
I was only just over a year into my coat making apprenticeship when I entered so I was just hoping to get through the first stage and into the final so my outfit could be on the runway!``

Community
``Winning was one of the highlights of my career so far. I'm so glad I did it and at such an early stage it really encouraged me to continue as a bespoke tailor after having my three children.
My fellow tailors also inspire me to keep getting better, we are a small tight knit community of perfectionists on Savile Row and I'm lucky to work with people where we're happy to share ideas and problem solve together. I love my job!``
Eighteen years since her stunning victory in the Golden Shears, Roxanne continues to work as a Bespoke Coat and Vest Maker here in our tailoring workshop on Savile Row.

Testament not only to the investment made by the company in continuing to employ apprentices, but also to the loyalty of the talented team of makers working together in this family-owned, 160 year old bespoke tailoring company.
